LITA.co has chosen a man in tune with its values to make responsible investment grow in Belgium. After more than twenty years in banking, mostly abroad, and two years at Greenpeace, Vincent de Brouwer will lead the Belgian team. "At LITA.co, I find in a way the best of both worlds".
Vincent De Brouwer has alternated his career between non-profit organizations such as Terre et Iles et de Paix and the banking sector, both in Belgium and abroad. He has worked at the Générale de Banque and as regional director at the Bank of Africa. In March 2016, he became director of Greenpeace Belgium and then worked for some time as a banking consultant. He is now starting a new chapter and will lead the Belgian branch of the sustainable investment platform LITA.co with Céline Bouton, who has been in charge of its development for more than 3 years.
With his experience in the financial and NGO sector, he is the ideal person to help this FinTech to flourish. "Ever since my first job, I have been looking for jobs that are in line with my ideals. Within the bank, I have always been guided by the idea that the banking function is essential to the economic development of our societies. My involvement in the world of NGOs, both developmental and environmental, stemmed from the realization that a counterweight is indispensable in relation to a private sector that has fewer and fewer safeguards.
At LITA.co, I find the best of both worlds. With an acute sense of entrepreneurship, LITA.co develops financial products for the benefit of tomorrow's society, ecological and social".
LITA.co is the first impact investing platform in Europe. It connects investors in search of meaning and profitability with companies that have a positive impact on society and the environment. It has positioned itself for 3 years in Belgium as a key player in ethical finance and as a model of the "short chain of finance". Indeed, the participants finance companies directly, LITA.co wanting to disintermediate the world of finance. A great challenge for a former banker, especially in times like these. To date, nearly 8 million euros have been invested by individuals. Most companies that raise equity funds on LITA are eligible for the tax shelter, a tax reduction of up to 45% of the amount invested.
